For event organizers, before the venue call
Date WindowsCarry options to the venue, not one date.
Enter who your audience is and the dates you are weighing. Free in your browser: weekday or weekend from whose time attendees spend, every window checked for the wrong weekday, clashes on the same dates or week, and chances to sit beside a bigger event; every calendar marked checked or outstanding; and the windows worth carrying to the venue. A run writes the date memo, or the venue request and the announcement.

How it works
The first question is whose time attendees spend. Professionals attending for work get weekdays - one organizing guide keeps weekends for family. Students and hobbyists get a weekend, Friday evening to Sunday - a hackathon league requires it for its member events. A mixed audience picks the side it is built for; the compromise day takes the worst of both. Every window is checked for the wrong weekday, clashes on the same dates or in the same week, and same-city events worth sitting beside so travellers make one trip for both.
This page never supplies a holiday date: each calendar is either checked against the body that publishes it, with the source, or marked outstanding. Three to five surviving windows go to the venue so a refusal becomes a negotiation. And no date is announced until there is a working way to take money - teams that skipped that gate have rescheduled or cancelled.
